Underage drinking puts youth at risk. It puts their health at risk, their safety, their relationships with family and friends, and the list could go on. It even puts their brain development at risk.
RISK
The KnoW Alcohol curriculum, designed by instructor Mikki Fisher Jerdet, is designed to help youth and young adults under the age of 21 to learn about those risk factors, and help them make more responsible choices in the future regarding drinking behaviors. In a group setting, this 7-hour workshop includes a variety of interactive learning segments:
- Teen Brain Development
- Addiction Phases
- Tolerance and Standard Drink Amounts
- Friends – Are they Affected?
- Unpacking our Choices
- Setting Goals for the Future
- Special speakers from the local recovery community who share their stories are a consistent part of the workshop. A closing circle allows everyone to talk about what they are taking away from the workshop; this is also a time to think about the restorative theme of how all of our risk-taking choices are done within webs of relationships that are part of everybody’s lives.
UNDER 21
A lunch is provided during every workshop. To learn more about registration, schedules and location for KnoW Alcohol, the side bar holds more information.
