THINK (for adults)
CHOICES (for youth)
Cognitive Group Intervention is an intensive 8-week course designed for offenders who have repeated crimes. Students learn to identify the ingrained patterns of their personal thoughts, beliefs and emotions that trigger undesirable behaviors and consequences. Students also learn stress-management and goal setting. The class is voluntary and based on cognitive behavioral theory.
How do you justify your own negative choices?
The Choices class is taught throughout the year at various Barron County high schools, and the Think class is taught throughout the year at the University of Wisconsin – Barron County campus (UWBC). Students can be referred to the program by the Department of Corrections, the Department of Health and Human Services, school districts or by parent recommendation. There may be a fee for this program, depending on the referring agency.
